A Chain of Unfortunate Events
Dear Friends,
Phew where do I start? Well first, happy Sunday. I know I have not sent a newsletter in about three weeks. Pardon me, life was happening. This past week, I have had one incident after the other happen to me. Not happy incidents, but unfortunate ones.
Firstly, I was having problems at work. We started using a new software and learning it has not been easy. My lead developer has been on my neck for two weeks and I can feel myself choking.
Now on Thursday evening, right after I was done with work there was a huge thunderstorm. It rained so heavily and the lightening strikes were scary. Suffice to safe, this broke the internet and my WIFI went off. This was a huge problem because I NEED WIFI to do my job. The WIFI company was xfinity and they sent a message few minutes later that they were aware of the outage and currently working on it. They said it would be fixed in two hours. However it was not. The next day was Friday and I needed WIFI to do my job. I had to go into the office (which was empty) to work. I was late for my morning meeting because I could not connect to the WIFI in the office on time. During my lunch break at work, I got an email from my leasing company. My rent had been increased by $300. I was flabbergasted. Fam, this is an increment of $300 per month, not per year. I was already paying so much for rent and a $3oo increase was a bump I could not afford. As I read the email, I decided to stay calm and get done from work for the day before tackling the problem.
I left the office and missed my last meeting for the day because when I got home the WIFI was still not back. At that point, I was very antsy. I could not afford to miss meetings at work. I needed WIFI to work effectively and my hotspot was not connecting. In addition, I offer services on the side as a professional writer and had 3 client jobs due by Saturday night. This was in addition to two consulting sessions I had on Saturday by 11am and 12pm respectively.
After I got back from work that Friday, I decided to shoot a YouTube video since my last upload was 10 days ago. I dressed up, did my makeup and filmed a 20 minute video. I took out my sd-card and inserted into my PC to edit the video. Guess what? It said my sd-card was corrupted and had to be formatted. Therefore I lost the video. At that point, I lost all my will power to do work. It seemed it was just one problem after the other. I felt the Universe was against me. I called my friend who advised me to go to bed and start over the next day.
The next day was a Saturday. I woke up and went online to write my newsletter and saw that I could not login to revue (the software I use for my newsletter). Revue was down! Father Lord, what was this chain of unfortunate events? I called my mum and started crying. She consoled me and told me all will be well. At this point, our WIFI was still not back. I and my roommate decided to go to the leasing office and speak to them about the rent increase. We did so and we were told to come back the next week. Luckily the leasing office did not have an internet outage so I stayed there to work. I was able to do my first consultation. The second person did not show up.
I was also able to complete the 3 writing jobs I had for my clients and this was a big win for me. I went home at about 6pm, and the WIFI was still not back. At this point I called customer service and they said we had to get a new modem that our old one was bad. My roommate said we should wait it out instead (since we got a text that the WIFI would be fixed by 10pm on Saturday) rather than get a new modem. I did not agree with this but decided to go along with it to avoid a fight. By 10pm on Saturday, the WIFI did not connect and I was furious. We also could not go into an xfinity store to get a new modem because it was late.
I told my roommate that we were getting a new modem the next day - Sunday. By Sunday, I woke up and texted my roommate to get dressed so we could go get the new modem. I have no idea if he saw my text or not, but I did not get a response. By 12 noon, I went into the store myself, bought a new modem and fixed the WIFI. My roommate texted me by 4pm to say that he had slept in and only saw my message. I have no idea how true that is but I was mentally exhausted and let it go.
Well, I finally fixed the WIFI and I am able to work and create content. I also shot a new video which I would be editing and uploading tomorrow. And that dear friends is how my weekend went.
